Greetings from Florida

Goodness, what a fantastic site! Im from North Florida and fairly new to this fig growing business (but an avid fig eater since I could walk!).

So far, my modest little collection includes a Black Mission (potted), a Green Ischia (a two year old tree - in the ground) and a Brown Turkey (about five years old, pruned to about 8' and a nice producer).

Im hoping to add to the collection this year some form of yellow/white/or golden figs like an LSU Gold, Alma, etc.  Will be heading over to Tallahassee in two weeks to help a friend move and am thinking abut giving Just Fruits and Exotics a try and picking up one of the Dominico's White Italian if anyone has ever tried one of these Id be interested in hearing about it.

Again, wonderful site. Now I can see that I'll have to work hard to keep from becoming obsessed. Fat chance of that, ahhaha

James

finding this site has been a true blessing. I have loved figs for year, but it was just a couple years ago that I started to try to grow them. I have learned, and continue to learn, so much on this site. Quite a wealth of accumulated knowledge here.

Welcome aboard:)  From a bit south of you.

Welcome James, may your collection grow and grow and grow :)

James, welcome aboard! You are about to enter the hard core world of figging. On your way to Just Fruits please drop by my place inTallahassee for a tour of my 3 year old fig orchard. Bring your truck.

You're awesomw Frank!

Welcome, James!

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome! My wife laughed at me when I mentioned fig trees (besides the fact that I already have three) ... said something about "no  more room" ( I have about two dozen fruit trees on a regular urban/suburban lot ) with a smile on her face...

My reply:  "Apparently, they do quite well in pots"

Touche'

Thanks again! Im going to delve into the site over the next few days and do some homework...

Welcome from south Ga.

Welcome to the forum James.

Welcome James.

Welcome, we are a bunch of enablers here. Prepare to test the boundaries of your wife's tolerance of fig tree numbers. :)

Ooops, too late to warn you, just buckle your sit belt and Welcome ;)
