Oh!  We're going to have the grill running this weekend.  I am going to try this - well, except for the strawberry balsamic, but I'm sure I can come up with something.  whoohoo!

Looks good, no make that GREAT Frank

You can pretty well grill a shoe and it'll taste good, Cecil.

Actually, these grilled figs tasted better cold the next day.

Even those store bought mission brebas I bought the other day tasted fabulous grilled!  Brings out the sugar and adds a touch of smoke!  Very nice, and you are right FMD about grilling!  Ask Bobby Flay! :-))

Suzi

Frank, were those Alma figs. I can see desert following a porterhouse and a sweet tator. Thanks for the photos.

Could you tell me a little more about the crema di balsamico Frank, I have never seen that before but love the very expensive aged stuff.

Thanks for sharing Frank, Looks real good.

Brent,
If you like expensive aged stuff then I have a some bottles of "Hennessy Bras D'Or" and "Hennessy Bras Arme".

Approx. 40 years old. How would those work for marinating or sauteing?

But doubt you can drink this stuff now anyway.

I never touch liquor anymore Rafed, alcoholism runs in my family and that is not something I can ever get away from. I like a nice fresh beer or glass of wine every now and again though, moderation is easier that way for me.

I checked out the prices on those names and I would never be able to enjoy what was in them knowing how much each sip was worth! It seems better suited as "money in the bank".

I am so stingy with the aged balsalmic that I can barely enjoy it even though it is so good.

I rarely ever touch liquor myself, if do from time to time but I can live without it.
But you hit the nail in the head when you said ( Money in the Bank ). They don't lose value. This is why I collect them. Not rich by all means but I trust my money with me, so to speak.

Don't need to buy expesinve balsalmic to enjoy your meal, the price tag does not make it better. Enjoy what "you" like.

Oh I like the condensed flavors and sweetness, fresh and tangy is fine for some things that need the acidity though. I hear you can reduce any balsalmic and get about the same quality as barrel aged but have not tried it yet.

Seems like old liquor is a better bet than the stock market these days. I like to pretend old forged carving tools are a good investment, when I can sharpen them up and use them they become very valuable to me anyway. And then of course I have my fig investments which should be yeilding good fig-dividends soon.

Hey Charles,

They are Celeste figs. I am not a big fan of these figs and as luck would have it, I have a huge productive Celeste tree. I only harvest about 1% of the thousands it produces but happily the birds and bugs seem to enjoy them. Grilling a few or making a fig and cheese ciabatta sandwich is good enough for me.
The alma twins, on the other hand are special.

Brent, the strawberry crema di balsamico is something my wife picked up and described as:

"reduced red balsamic glaze that is made in Modena, Italy. This naturally strawberry flavoured balsamic glaze or cream has a thick syrupy texture, and rich flavour. It contains no added sugar."

Rafed, glad your not mad at me.

LOL Frank,

This is why I love this Country. Two friends can have different views and not kill one another.

I'm Catholic and proud, if your views are different then I'm fine with that.
We're still brothers dude.
But I want to say sorry about using the word Knuckleheads on the other post, did not mean to point at you.

Brent,

I can't say I will sell my liquor collection one day, just like my figs, which one do I part with first? LOL
But I do have a nice collection put away, maybe I will pass it on to my kids, may I'll end up drinking some of it with friend and family? I don't know.

I do know one thing for sure, I had some aged Balsamic at a very decent price that would have knocked your socks off! It was that good. I just can't remember which because it was long ago.

Oh well, to the hunt we go.
