Grise Olivette

First fruit ever on this plant just starting so i start to document it for myself in dated pictures.

Well this 1 was easy to document.
When i came home i notice it laying on top of pot.
I open up , interior was not at all like an aborted fig interior though.

Martin
It seemed almost ripe with some droop. The weight proved more than enough for the almost ripened joint strength. Why do you mention 'aborting'?
How was the taste anyway?
I have rooted one this year.

I also have this tree but it has not fruited for me yet.

What kind of fig is it, looks yummy.

Hi Akram and others posted
by looking at fig one would think it now has some droop and must be near ripe. It was still was some days away though from getting ripe.
For example now have other plants figs that are dark and hanging yet still not ripe , just taking longer to soften and be fully ripe as days are getting short and nights have turned cooler.
Those Sals figs i picture in another thread for example are just hanging around taking there time to fully ripen unlike just a week ago were they were ripening faster.

I mention it's interior "not like an aborted fig.
An aborted fig like when my pastiliere drops figs with no swelling premature coloring and has an interior that is raw, like picking a unripe fig and cutting in half.

This one was not at all like that as it had interior that was pinkish and on its way to getting ripe.
It just fell though , plant is young and could be various reason why it fell. The weight of the fig i feel was not one of them though i feel.

I did not taste it as i knew it would be insipid at that stage.

Described as a very tasty large blueish fig from France.
But thats just a description.
I like to see what this fig can bring here in my yard eventually.  ; )

My Grise Olivette tree  has grown about 2" since being transplanted to a 1 gallon pot and is enjoying the first substantial rain we have had in over a month.  I hope to sample one next year.  I am watching with anticipation, my first DiRedo fig just beginning to swell now.  With showing us nice pictures like you did, the least you could have done was to sample it, to me it looks better than insipid.

Martin,

I picked it prematurely as well, It still tasted okay, but I'm sure it would be sweeter if it was fully ripe. In your case, could it be a bird that picked on its neck? I see that from time to time.

Hi Sirlampsalot,
yes its decent growing tree , mine shot up last season and this as well.
I did not taste it after tearing it opened it smelled real green kinda like a green banana as opossed to a nice ripe yellow one for example.

I again smelled it thinking its gotta stink now but it smelled the same green smell , i think perhaps it did not get chance to spoil more yet as it was 52 for low last night and only 63 now as i type this .

Bass here is picture taken just now after rereading thread i remember i left the fig on top of pot .
Thanks because i do not like to leave any fallen figs as our birds here are stuck on stupid and i dont want to have them get idea's seeing such open fruit appear as a invitation . Its my hope they always stay stupid after all they been for years now here.

Perhaps the leaf axil was wacking it yesterday as its been breezy last couple days with this sudden cool weather, but thats ok i taste eventually this or next season. I tired to match it back up to where it was in a picture.
Thanks for showing your picture Bass.

Well another i just notice this morning . Again tree is very young.
Hope to taste 1 this season along with a few other types of plants.
