in this video, he shows stawberries as ground cover for a large fig tree.  I was thinking of doing the same..wonder if any of you have this experience and what is the result? 

I tried to grow a strawberry/ground cover patch. I had too many problems with the deer just mowing them down!

Looks like a great idea.  But my concern would be...would they get enough sun to put out much fruit?  

I guess that depends on the shape and size of the tree.

Strawberries prefer acid soil, figs more neutral. Some would say figs prefer slightly alkaline soil. So while it will work, you can't give both their prefered soil.
