Grow Bags

Ive asked around local nurseries for 1 gallon pots to plant my fig cuttings into. They said they charge 40 cents for used 1 gallon pots if they have any. Which they doubt they would have the 80-100 pots I need. I found these grow bags online and was wondering if anyone had thoughts on these. The listing im looking at is 1 gallon size but look at eBay item number 181132437826

100 bags for $25.00

I have no experience with these.  My concern with these would be the same as any solid sided, plastic container... roots being directed around the container or back into the growing mix.

I started using the Root Pouch fabric/plastic bags this year.  So far I have been pleased with them.  They are suppose to be porous enough for air pruning of the root tips at the edge of the bag.  They are sturdy enough that I do not use additional support (18-24 month bags).  I was planning on writing more about them after I pull a few trees out before next season.  The problem I am having with them right now is everyone seems to be out of stock and I still have 75ish cuttings to plant.  Cost wise, they should be about 40 cents a bag with shipping.

Those are solid plastic. Are you looking for fabric grow bags? I'm currently growing several different vegi. in my garden with grow bags. They seem to be doing fine, it's too early in the season to tell if they do better than the hard side pots.

Have you considered putting an ad on Craigslist: Wanted - FREE.
Some nurseries have recycling bins where customers drop off pots.
My county, and my city also have recycling programs where one can
request most anything readers are willing to part with.

Try asking small landscapers.  They usually throw theirs away.  Most nurseries around me don't give or even sells theirs either.

They have the root pouches at homedepot. com if they haven't sold out. I need to order some myself. You can also get SmartPots at smartpot.com.
