Grow Room's

Here are some pictures of my grow rooms. In the first picture the room is powered by 6 x 54 watt T5 high output bulbs 6500k. In this room I will be adding another 6 bank of lights to wake up some figs early to give them a head start.

I have about 20 small named variety's and 5 Unk's dormant in my cold room for now. I have 40 variety's that I am trying to root and 18 more variety's on route.

I went a little fig crazy!!!

Limited grilling this winter with all the foil being used up? :)

I'm the same way - rooting around the house, yard, and shed for things to aid my hobbies.

I just bought a bunch of emergency blankets, they are made out of mylar which is very reflective.

Looks like you have rust.  Got that in my growroom last winter.  Too much humidity and not enough air flow.  After removing the effected leaves and putting a fan in the room it didn't come back.

Same for me. I'm rooting 60+ cuttings at the moment.... My wife is beginning to notice. We're close to one another. If you're interested we should touch base in spring and talk trades. Like playing "need it, got it" with sports cards....happy rooting

Sounds like a plan.

  This has been my grow room for several weeks now...   I'm wondering when the wife will quit referring to it as her dining room???

Dining room? Is that the room in which you eat dinner while watching your figs root? That sounds nice....

Love those pots. Wish them made them clear. They're the perfect size but I really like to keep an eye on my roots

That is an impressive setup.  Do you use ambient light and temps, or do you try to control that?

I see an unopened Amazon package over there!  It's too late now, the figs shouldn't be disturbed. :)

Some great grow setups!
Make sure you use some of the area to grow your veggie seedlings and explain to your wives that you are doing all this for the family garden so family can eat healthier.

Open offer for the Ontario guys;
At some point when you have taken over your whole house and yard and you get kicked out of your homes along with your fig trees by your better halves.  You can bring your over population of fig trees over to my fig farm.
I will reserve an appropriate area for each of your fig trees and make some proper labels for your rescued fig trees;
"Fig Tree X donated by out of control collector a" ...

I'm sure my small farm will get gobbled up in no time and I will need to hire some of the local migrant workers to help.  They like eating figs too!

I have never rooted in a cup without using the sun to heat the soil.

Much slower rooting than usual, but once the tops get removed they take off.

Next year a adjustable heat mat and the same old warm white LED's.

  Visceral,  heat is provided by my wood burning stove that is six feet from the plants, so they enjoy comfortable temps.  On chilly days, two 5' windows provide four hours of direct sunlight and four hrs of ambient light... and LED lights are used above cuttings that have leafed out.  We see outside temps here of mid-fifties to low sixties during the daytime, so on these warmer days, all of the leafed-out cuttings join the shuffle parade to outdoors.  In a week we are forecast to see our first 70* day, but the shuffle will continue on nights that dip into the forties, to prevent the cultivars that are chill-sensitive from jettisoning their leaves.

  In addition to the tree pots, I have a dozen premium varieties in 5-gal buckets ( LUV, BFF, Craven's... ) that are under LED lights indoors, and are shuttled outside on the warm days as well.  I wanted to give them a jump-start on building some height, as most growth was suspended after temps here exceed 108* or so during the summer last year.  I picked up two 26'x100' shade cloths that I'll be trying out this year, in hopes of coaxing the sensitive varieties to continue their in-ground growth through the dog-days of summer.

Amazing setup, Blue! Amazing wife too! You benefit from a great weather environment, a great supportive wife, great figs and a great passion for putting your best effort into growing the little darling! Kudo's!
