Growing figs

Hi

Is there anyone growing figs in sussex county nj near sussex? Wanted to know if they are able to let them grow outside near the south wall of the house would like to try a fig that could grow there

Is this about right for your area?

A Chicago Hardy can handle that no problem.

But I haven't done it there.  I do do it here.   :)

It's been -8 here and my unprotected Chi Hardy died to the roots but came back fine.

I am north of your location and higher in elevation. Most of the cold hardy varieties described on this Forum should work for you. If you prune the plant to a "Japanese Espalier" form, It can be protected with minimal effort for the first few years until it is mature, which is my plan. see attached diagram and website blog.
