Growing figs in a tropical island.

Today I visited a tree I started as a 6" cutting a 13 months ago in the caribbean island of trinidad. It is now at least a 10 ft tree with several figs.
What I get in 3 years growth it only took a year here.

Congratulations on being in the Caribbean!  I love it there.  Do you snorkel or dive?

What kind of fig is it?

Nice!

This one in particular is Salem white, but I have exported several varieties, will be checking the trees at a farm tomorrow.
They require frequent pinching and pruning to induce branching and bearing year round.

Bass,

I'd take a wild guess and say Trinidad has 10 or 11 months of growing season per year versus maybe 5 months in Bethelem, PA.  I think you need to move to a longer growing season.  Maybe Jon will adopt you???
