Growing figs in Las Vegas

Anybody here growing in Vegas? I have family there and i am planning to buy them plants. Any suggestions or recommendations?

I have cousins in Vegas, both have fig trees. Every July they have a fig feasible. Excellent climate for figs.

Thanks Sparky!

Im wondering if VDB would do fine in Vegas. I read some users stating that VDB does not like dry air and extreme heat.

We will be having temps around 109* and humidity at 10% for as far in the future as one can see...  Vdb and its cousins Nero 600m and Vista are as happy as clams here.

Panache is a great choice, with the Stripes and blood red pulp.

You have to alter your harvesting criteria if you grow Panache in extreme heat...   they begin to ferment before they are fully ripened, so you should pick about two days early unless you prefer to get a buzz from your fruit. ;-)

Hi Dru, I thought the rule was if anyone was growing figs in Vegas, they aren't allowed to tell anyone outside of Vegas ;-)

Thanks for all the input! Keep them coming!
