It looks good but very late in ripening. Hopefully it will improve as your tree matures but it will have hard time maturing in my location since the end of September here ends (almost ends) the growing/ripening season and so we get ready for the Thanksgiving Day on the second Monday of October (which can happen from October 8th to October 15).
That makes me wish if the figs could continue to ripen after harvest like some other fruits. I have many unripe figs on plants with a bit of changed colour and a bit softer than the gold ball that would have been candidates for ripening inside but as I have read here the figs don't ripen after removing from the plant.
I tried to boil the big unripe figs in sugar syrup which made it softer. I placed them in a glass jar in the fridge. But each time I opened the jar it will smell like a cattle barn so I gave up on it until I learn of a better way to use them.

Herman, nice fig!

Ottawan: I'm thinking of doing the same with my unripe figs. There are several recipes floating around on how to do it and all of them are a little different. Do you mind my asking what recipe did you follow?

H2, thanks for the great pic. Sure does looks delicious Glad you got to taste it. Congrats. Tim

Thanks Tim,and Leon
Akhram:That fig is seven years old and 10 inches high.
It will not ripe in your place unless you have a greenhouse with ligts to start it early in the Spring form embryos there and then put it out in May.
My tree is inground outside.

Leon, If I'm not mistaken I think it was Bass that published last year
a recipe for unripe, (almost), figs. I followed his cooking advise but used
the figs together with some ripe ones in Jam. It worked for that purpose.

I'm sure he would repeat the recipe.

Peg

Peg,

I just posted the recipe.

Leon
I used the idea from the following recipe with many short cuts like doing 20 minutes (plus) boiling/simmering only one time and checking if fruit was a bit soft and then poured the fruit and sugar syrup in a glass container (skipping the wax paper part):

I hope you Will have more patience for better results.
