hair root.

i read some where that hair root is what you want, not those thick roots. i might be wrong, but if i'm remembering things right, peat pot is doing its job.

was repotting some 1 gals into 3 gal today. the 1 gals are from last spring. the roots were rather long, i had to untangle them all. but funny thing was that inside of the peat pot all the roots were hair roots. outside of the peat pot, the roots were starting to get thick.

i had few that actually made without peat pots. they all had very thick roots right at the end of the cuttings. some were very thick and they were starting to curve back onto themselves. i think those, i'll have to make air layer soon. i'm sure sooner or later they will choke themselves off unless i do some serious root pruning soon. once i have air layer off them, i'll be root pruning them and cutting off those that's circling on themselves.

Geez wish i could stop loseing hair roots.  ; )

Root hairs are the ones taking up water and nutrients more readily, the thicker ones can, but in limited capacity and act more like storage.
