Happy cuttings enjoying a sunny afternoon

It's still too cold to get them out for some fresh air, but they seem to be enjoying the warmth of the sunshine through the glass. This years starts are Maltese Falcon, Col De Dame Blanc & Noir, O'rourke, Ronde De Bordeaux, Sals Corleone, Golden Celeste (champagne LSU), JH Adriatic, Genovese Nero, Aubique Petite, Violetta De Bordeaux, Lebanese Red, Yellow Lebanese, Macool, Black Maderia, Prosucitto Nero, Green Ischia, Persian White, Panache and Raspberry Latte. I want to thank all of the members that I have received these cuttings from...you are all welcome to any cuttings from my Belleclare and Paradise trees.

Can i have cuttings from paradise pls

they look very happy!

They look great! How much weight can those shelves hold?

I'm not sure of the exact weight that they'll hold, but I've had 2 standard size trays that hold 8 potted cuttings each (as the tray shown in the picture) on each shelf with no problem at all. The other pic shows the center support bar in the mini greenhouse. It measures 20"d x 28"w x 5'4"h. Lowes and Home Depot have them.

They look beautiful! How much time passed since you started rooting of the cuttings on the shelf?

The ones in the square pots are about 2 months old. The ones in the clear plastic cups vary in age, all around a month give or take a week. As the clear plastic cups fill up with roots, they get potted up to the square pots

Hey Scott

I notice that all your cuttings are in clear cups, but NOT protected by an outer opaque cup. For some reason, i thought most folks start cutings in clear cups with tons of holes (side and bottom), but then that cup is inside another cup that keeps roots protected from daylight?

Your plants look great.

Hey Mark, I've had great success with this method, but I start the unrooted cuttings in the clear plastic cups with holes in the bottom in damp coco coir or spagum and first they go in a clear Tupperware bin (with a top) on a seedling heat mat and kept out of direct sunlight. As they get a good bunch of roots, I transition them to the small greenhouse for a couple days and then transplant them to the black square pots also shown. I keep the black pots in the greenhouse for humidity and after another week or so they come out to start to acclimate to less humidity and to start to harden off. I hope this helps.

Great pictures. I'm hoping Spring is close here so I can plant my cuttings outdoors. It's been a long cold winter here in Chicago. Nothing to do besides work and getting fat.
I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the cuttings will survive the 1st year since they are small.

Wow Scot, you have a few "must haves" in the fig kingdom started there, nice.

You have an amazing collection
