Harbor Freight Greenhouse Assembly

I'm finally putting the HFG together. Hopefully I'll have the panels in before the first snow.

Good luck with the install Tom. The directions need some directions. I will be watching the progress as I will be putting mine up in the spring.

Congratulations!

I have, I should say, I had one of these.  It completely collapsed in its first winter under the weight of a wet snow.  I reinforced all of the aluminum by sistering them all with 2x4's.  Then many of the panels blew out.  The clips are a joke.  I ended up nailing straight through the edges of the panels with nails and large washers to hold the panels on.  Not to mention the pathetic door.  The only things of value are the panels themselves.  Everything else is junk.  I've since completely insulated the inside with rigid insulation panels turning my greenhouse into a giant igloo cooler.  Good luck with yours!

I would of preferred framing a greenhouse on the foundation using the experience I gained from the lean to I built.  That's probably why I took so long to start building this.  I don't think it would have survived last winter either but we'll see what happens this winter I guess.  I did buy extra clips but also intent to fasten then with the self tapping screws with the rubber grommets for the polycarbonate.

Part 2

About time Tom! :)

I supported mine with a 2x4 frame also. Make sure to silicone all the panels in and add a screw through the center of each panel to connect it to the cross bar. Lastly, replace the doors... I used glass french doors for mine.

Tom, you screwed lean-to to your base like I did to my GH.  I took an extra step.  I dug a deep trench.  Laid in the gravel, then the 4x4 PT foudation.  Cut a but joint, added gorilla glue then lag bolts then covered the entire frame with 10mil plastic.  Why?  Because aluminum will erode if it touches PT lumber.  Then I screwed my GH base to my foudation.  My little 8x6 Gh does not move.  But the panel will!  So Tom, please please please get yourselt a large glue gun and case of silcone.  Silcone those panels in!  I did mine after learning the hard way in a wind storm!

Mine has been standing for 5 years now.  But on another tip, go ahead and screw down that center pop-up window.  The wind has popped mine off 3 times.  For ventillation.  Get yourself one of those ShelterLogic auto vents.  It's pretty slick!  Two comes in a pack and they are worth their weight in gold!!!   The vent automatically opens when inside temps reach 70+ degrees and close automatically.
