I have some cuttings of Excel and Flanders gifted to me that are rooting well.

Any fellow cold climate growers trying these in ground have any reports on hardiness in zone 6?

I also have Osborne Prolific and White Texas Everbearing taking their time (I see root initials though), any reports on those that could be shared?

no clue.. Excel is a good fig. but i live at 7b and put them all into garage for winter. i pamper my figs :) i heard this winter was bad enough some of the Flanders were damaged up in NJ. 

I received some Flanders from UCD and they rooted like gangbusters. I will report their progress here in nj

In Austraila last season Excel was one off the best tasting figs ive had also it had vigor.

I had some Excel cuttings gifted to me that went south (died) due to winter injury where some other varieties in the same location fared OK.
Maybe Excel is not too cold hardy unfortunately?

Thanks for the feedback! It seem Excel is Zone 7 hardy from what little info is out there, so I have some decisions to make as to how to grow it!

I am in zone 8b.  We had a horrific winter this year (down to 6*).  I had my young cuttings in the shop without heat until the lines broke in the shop before I added a heater.  I lost the young Flanders but my Excel is doing well.  I have yet to try the fruit of either.
