Hardy Chicago and late raspberries

My wife and I shared the first couple  Hardy Chicago figs this morning with a handful of raspberries off my new "fall" fruiting varieties - man-oh-man was that a good combination! The HCs were very "figgy" but not overwhelmingly sweet. The raspberries had good flavor, and not as tart as my spring ones. My wife loved them both. She really liked the raspberries because she does not care for the tartness of the regular spring ones.

But sorry, no pics. Out on the back porch, fresh fruit in hand that was the result of two years labor, the moment was too nice to interrupt with getting the camera. Just take my word for it, they were good!

There is nothing quite like eating something delicious that you raised yourself.

Very nice! My fall raspberries are still a week or 2 out, but looks like a good crop this year. What varieties do you have?

They were supposed to be Anne, yellows. But they are all red so I really don't know what they are. I am a bit upset with the nursery for sending mis-labeled plants, but as long as we like them I guess it is OK. And my wife really likes these better than the spring raspberries.

I have Fall Gold, they are like eating honey (I'm not exaggerating), delicious! Not quite as vigorous or as large as the Heritage Red I have, but still plenty to eat for us.

I have Anne Heritage and another spring variety that I can't remember the name of.  Lot of people love the Anne.  It does not seem quite as vigourous as the Heritage as far as cane growth.  It does seem to put out lot's of berries.  They have together been producing 1 to 5 gallon every 2 or 3 days for the past month or so.  I have only eaten a couple of handfuls of each so far.  Family gets them before I can.  Oh well I planted fertilize mow and do all the work except pick and enjoy.  I do admit to loving to hear stories of grandchildren nephews and neices loving them though.

That's what its all about!  I swear I enjoy having someone else eat my homegrown food more than myself... except for figs... I want them all! LOL.
