Looks good. Will this be your first ripe fig of the season? How far behind is the main crop from this breba?

Yes this will be first and only one of season only several days later than last season i had 1 each from el. sals and hc.
If early (mid august 15th day) for first taste of ripe figs which is 2 weeks from today.
But despite warm weather they may be regular and on time and not mid August.
I will know soon.

Ate dinner let dogs out and went and looked a fig trees.
The hardy chicago breba 11 hours later .

It has the classic "hangmans neck" , now its ready and i pick tomorrow morning.

I fasten can under it so in morning its not on ground and i can take a decent picture.
I do not go to these lengths for my figs but i dont often get to document a breba fig here.

Congratulation Martin, great fig and pix.
No fioroni for me in N.J. but looking forward to fichi in 2 weeks.
Appreciate the pictures, keep it up, Sergio in NJ.

I think we all take that extra step when it comes to our passion and figs is one of them for me. Looking forward to seeing ripe picture tomorrow

Here is the breba hardy chicago picked just a little while ago, i document for my disk.
This is second breba ever from this tree for me to taste, last season was my first and it was not so good. This season it reminded me more of main crop taste which is a rich figgy taste although this one was milder overall it was good but not as good as main crop.
I want the best this tree can offer so i will continue to knock them off in spring if they do not fall off first.
I now satisfied my curiosity about how this breba can taste.
Enjoy

Very nice Martin thanks for taking the time to post pictures.

Does removing the breba when still small help with main crop production and earlier ripening?
I had some breba and main crop ripen at same time, but again my climate is different and only first year in ground on 2 yr old tree

Hi Sal you ask

Does removing the breba when still small help with main crop production and earlier ripening?

Sal most fall by themsleves ones that dont i remove sometimes i miss a few and leave them , last season 1 made it like this season on HC. One also made it on EL.Sals last season , this season that tree none missed .
Each tree type with main crop production and ripeining the figs is different as we know, but removing breba i firmly believe it helps tree concentrate its production on vegatative growth in our spring faster is my thoughts , which of course leads to the shoots growing out and therefore eventully pinching process.
Sal this is what i do in my climate yours is so warm i dont know what to think, like when you mentioned your veggie garden was done for season i was very surprised.
