Nice, HC is an all around good fig, I hope you enjoy it's fruits.

I was wondering if I cut about a foot from the top would it make more side branches and would the top I cut root.

I would start an airlayer on it ,right above that smaller side branch..

I'm so glad it grew this nicely for you. Yes deer hunter is spot on, an air layer is a must. Don't be afraid to cut it down. It will branch out and get thicker . More branches mean more figs! It is a variety known for producing at a very young age and in my opinion it's one of the top figs if ripened properly.
