Aaron you just amaze me !  Thanks for the pictures.  They truly do = 10,000 words.
The Persian fig is so beautiful. I wish I'd been into figs when my daughter was dating an Iranian born man.  She met many Persians living in Los Angeles area and I may have missed opportunities to acquire Persian fig cuttings. Alas that was before I became a fig addict.

Wonderful photos Aaron! I could almost taste the Pastiliere. Makes me want to go outside and side beside my fig bushes and plead with them "ripen soon! Ripen soon!"

I like the Armenian and Sultani. What's the flavor of those like. Also, would you know of a reliable source I can buy either trees or cuttings of these 2 specific varieties from?

In the former Soviet republic of Armenia did not grow figs varieties "Armenia". Those guys on the photo more like grade "Uzbek yellow."

Hi Aroon4usa,
Nice big figs !
Are they already from this year ? Brebas ?
This morning, I had my only sultane breba - I'll post a bit later - Sultane is the best fig for me.
Is your Sultani rimada the same as "sultane" ? - I think I remember a post, where you were still investigating - Rimada means striped, or ?

-Vladis, thank you for the new information, interesting...
Out of respect, to the owners of the fig trees, I keep the names that have been given or passed to me.

-jd, these are breba Armenians.
Sultani is not Sultane(of France) , it loses almost all brebas and what you see is the main crop.
Anatolian Pastiliere has NO breba, so those are main crop too and they do crack and split due to caprification.

Aaron, 13 republics grown figs. In these republics gardeners gave names of plants in their native language. And of course Brunswick called on the. But Soviet scientists in the last century had a lot of research on the figs and unique scientific data collected by many well-known varieties of figs.

Vladis, that's very interesting, I hope you have access to the research information, after all, new is good ;)

Aaron, this book "Varieties of figs" unknown anywhere except the former Soviet Union. I already wrote to you about it. The book is written in the NBS (bot Nikitsky Garden, Yalta) in Russian. Circulation small. Into other languages, not translated.

Vladis, yes, I remember. Sounds like a very valuable book. Too bad about the language restrictions
