Heads Up (NJ and North East)

Looking at the weather forecast for NJ...
Next Wed - Sat,  lows down to 9*F.
(pardon my American-English - I meant THIS Wed)
BUT, but, but  Fri's forecast is 4*F?!?!  I never remember such lows here....
Hope the weather people are wrong (often, they are).
As a precaution, I'll further monitor the weather and possibility temporarily raise
both my thermostat kick-in setting and heater-output for my (cold) garage stored figs.

Where is Al G's global warming?

East Braces For Arctic Release

Published: 1/11/09, 8:58 AM EDT
Three shots of arctic air will blast the East Coast over the next week as a series of fast-moving storms deliver reinforcing shots of cold air with no time to recover. Temperatures will begin to tumble across the Northeast on Wednesday as temperatures fall well below normal from Pittsburgh to New York City. Temperatures will continue to plummet on Thursday as high temperatures average 20 degrees below normal across the Northeast. A final blast of arctic air on Friday will send temperatures to their lowest values of the winter and gusty winds will result in extremely dangerous RealFeel® temperatures. Story by AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Eric Leister

Gorgi, Just to make you feel a bit better, here is our forecast for coming Thursday. We are seeing Zone 4 temperatures for the late part of this week. My plants are hybernating at 48F cozy temperatures in a cold storage.

    • Ottawa, Thu Jan 15
    • High  -20°C  (  -4F)
    • Low  -30°C   (-22F)

OK, but my local USDA zone is 6 (b)...

I am always amazed how you  Canada people (from where  the
frigid, but clean air comes from),  manage to raise/maintain  your figs...

Jon, in balmy-fig SD, California; is probably sun-bathing and laughing right now!

OK since were on the subject of cold FIG Weather, here is our near Chicago up to January 15th, oh Ottawan i cant speak for Gorgi but you nade me fell slightly better as you will be colder but hey you sent this stuff down our way i believe    : )
they say thursday will be coldest of the week and we can see posibly 10 inches of snow thu out the week as some systems come our way for a visit. In the last 125 years of record keeping they are saying up until today its the 4th snowiest so far. I have to go buy another quart of 2cycle oil as i went thru 1 already from last year sheeesh. I say this laughing i better not walk into my any of mine tree's in garage or i might crack one of them containers later this week.

I keep telling you guys you need to move. ;-)) 72F today. I opened up all the doors and windows because it was warmer outside than inside. Supposed to be close to 80F here tomorrow

We had a period of unusual cold weather last week with lows down to -16° C
 / 3° F. Take notice I'm in zone 7b/8a.
It's the coldest winter since 1996 and I hope I won't lose too much of my figs.
I would move to SD Jon, but I don't like the fires and earthquakes in your area. :-)

Ciao Gorgi,  They said this is going to be a record breaking week with lows around 4 degrees almost 3 nights in a row this week.  Pish Tosh to all this Global warning nonsense ( just my opinion ) Please I don't want to hear from all the A Gores out there.  We had a snowstorm on Saturday.  Ice Ice Ice, is all that we have been having.  I need heat!!! the winter dull drums are really setting in here in the mountains of Central Pa.  My figs are all nice and toasty though!!!!   I may bring in my English Rose that I keep outside in a large pot.  Ciao

It seems that the zones warmer than me up to 7 a i think are having some cold weather from reading this thread.
Jon that is some nice weather your having there.

Gorgi,  You requested separately to me that I should upload my adobe file on the Global warming scam to show people the execrable state of the science behind it all.

Great Idea,  If this works then my file should be accessible to all.  Unfortunately the much updated and revised one that I have currently is about 1.85 Mbytes (too big for this forum), which I can send to anyone who wants it, but for this forum I shall need to direct you to a location where this file - with all of its very animose critical responses to me - is located.

All,  I should mention that the linkage I provided is to a 'stripped down' version of my article.  The longer version is considerably more detailed.  I would be glad to send it to anyone.  Gorgi has the newer version too.

John.
