Very nice, Marius. Did the fruit ripen for you last year? No figlets yet?

Nice indeed Marius maybe we can compare fruit this season what state do you reside in if you do not mind me asking.

Marius- the cutting you sent me was very, very, healthy looking. It just would not grow roots! I made 2 grafts and am hoping one will take. Thanks again.

Martin,i live 20 miles south of Cleveland,Ohio.....Ruben,i had 61 figs on my plant last year and i ate only 6 ripen ones by the 1st of october...need a long and hot summer for this variant...i would give her one more try this year, and then...fig heaven...  Same with my Panache fig, never ate a ripe one in 4 years.BTW,i would have 2 Black Madeira plants,4 years old,in 20 and 30 gal pots and a Panache fig in a 32 gal pot...pick-up only, for free,by the end of this season,if they dont produce anything for me this season... Marius.

Marius,

Sorry to hear that they are not doing well for you. Hopefully they will make you proud this season or at least make a bunch of others happy in the form of cuttings and a rooted main trunk. Take care!

Marius let me know on the Black Maderia 30g  "if"  you get rid of it .
Your straight east of me about 5-6 hr drive that i would be willing to pickup.

I love figs, but that's a bit too far to drive from the west coast...

Hopefully they will bear for you this year, but if not, for someone else.

marius,

did you grow that BM from cuttng or did you get it as plant/air layer? readying one of the pinned thread, it's was ripe by aug in 7b.

pete

Pete,i had 10 cuttings of BM in 2009,and i manage to root 2 of them....

Martin, you are the first one on the list for the Black Madeira 30 gal pot.I will let you know by the end of this summer, got your name on the pot. Marius

Marius,

I would be very happy to take the other one and pay you.

BTW, I would be very happy to transport Martins straight to my house, I mean his house;)

Maybe something as simple as a pvc hoophouse would give extra heat hours to get more ripe figs.  I hope to try a fig from a Black Madeira someday too.

Marius,
our maderia similar age. Last season on purpose i let mine grow wild no limb pruning as it died to soil level in spring 2010 i wanted to let it continue its growth.
It also put on lots of figs and second week of October it gave 3 ripe figs but hard to gauge taste last season.
With proper pruning and with age maybe ripe figs can come in September long as it grows in container and in full sun.

Here is 1 of mine last season.
Again i did no limb pruning , this season i may or may not do the same depends on how tree grows.

I know its hard but you may want to give this type of tree more years instead to give away you may regret it as we are in similar climate and its my hope to one day my tree will do well here in my climate once fully mature and properly pruned.
Here are the pictures.

maybe pinch it to see if it will push the figs earlier? no clue what pinching does, but i have seen my Kathleen's Black putting out figs after pinching and different fertilizer for the first time. oh.. and not sure if it's weather or fertilizer, but with new fertilizer, my Paradiso Gene is pushing figs already. last year, Paradiso Gene didn't ripe till nov. 8th.
