Healthy Longue d aout brebas

Hi,

Figs started to ripen two weeks ago.
Healthy longue d'aout is ripening now.
Those are the first brebas I ever get from Longue d'aout.
They are huge but not that heavy.
Being brebas they don't taste as good as the maincrop, but still taste really good.

IMO, Every fig grower should have longue d'aout !

Very nice looking figs!
Would you be so kind and post a photo of the leaves?
Thanks

You are right about Longue D'Aout jds. I have a large tree in gound and I am now getting main crop figs to ripen. The brebas are not so tasty but the main figs are heavy, meaty, solid, and have a rich fig taste. They are not super sweet like a Kadota fig, but the tree is very productive and fig production is always consistent every year where other varieties can be weather dependant.

Here are photos of my Longue D'Aout from 2015. Pino, you can see the shape of the leaves in these pics.

Very nice figs

I just ate a large Niagra Black, which is supposed to be identical or almost identical to LdA. It weighed 48 gr. and tasted rather bland after eating LSU Purple, Unknown Pastilliere, and RdB. Hopefully the main crop will taste better.

Very nice figs, jdsfrance!
When does your main crop normally start to ripen?

I agree.  I've always thought that LdA was a must-have because you get several bites out of one fig.  Literally 3-4 times more 'meat' than a Mt. Etna fig.

Hi,
Moreover lda is cold hardy !
People should be advised to buy lda and not the true BT for cold zones ...
Some more pics from today.

For the maincrop, last year, they started to ripen by end of September, but the weather this year has been colder - especially the Spring was colder. oh well, we'll see ...
