Heat Wave

You know it's how when the pool thermometer reads 118 degrees in the water.   The air temp is 108 and it's going to be even hotter tomorrow.   So far figs doing fine though.

Wow!  Our pool was 92 degrees today!  I love that temp!  Outside temps will climb to 116 by the weekend.  Sucks when you have to play with the hose in the pool to keep the water cool enough!

I've been keeping an eye on my figs, and their pots are shaded so we don't have fried roots!

My God!!!  I'm reading some of the temps. that some of you guys must endure, and I can't believe that people can function in such searing heat.

When temps. start to climb past the 90 degree mark, I start looking for a heavy beam, a rope, and a chair!  : ))))))   I can't take the heat and humidity of the NYC Summers anymore.  Too old, not very temp. tolerant, and can't adapt like I did when I was younger.

I hope your air-conditioners never blow out.

Ditto to what Frank said. Course i have about 8-9 years to change the wifes dream of moving to Florida sounds nice and all but i'm having second thoughts.
Being retired when temps hit 90 im useless outdoors except for watering my fig tree's then im spent !

Yeah, no reason to retire to AZ either unless anyone likes extreme heat and ultra cold in the winter.   Not my choice to be here.   I started the fig addiction after I got here probably because there is little else to do here and they do so well here.  That part makes it better.

The weather map says it was 115 in Phoenix today. And that July was the hottest month in recorded US history, or something like that.

It only reached 101 with 37% humidity in Ramona but it did set a heat record. My figs LOVE it though! I swear they've grown several inches this week alone.

Had to leave the air conditioning on for the cats the last couple days...can't wait for that bill...

AC is expensive for sure!  Ours is on 24-7 in the summer.  We AC on in living areas in the day, and sleeping areas at night.  Still expensive.  Have solar for the pool, but who needs that when it goes all by itself to 94 degrees (that was the top today)!!  Solar extends the swimming season, but in hot summer, no need.

New house on acreage, pending offer acceptance, will go off the grid with solar, propane, and turbines.

Not much you can do to help the water bill.  My figs LOVE the heat too!  Lots of new baby figlets forming, and the new ones have doubled in size!!

Temp got up to 120F today. Finally some of my fig trees in pots are protesting. Getting a few crispy leaves that turned black but rainis headed our way!
