Heirloom Greek Fig

Last week while at HD buying a fig bearing fruit that was labeled "Black Mission", a man pointed at my tree and said it was good but not to big. Not the bashful type I jumped right into full investigative mood and found that his name was Mohammad and he has a black fig he himself brought from Greece. He said that it is a large tree and produces large quantities of large black figs. I was able to get a phone number and he agreed to let me see the tree.

My question to all of you is what is the most likely name for what he brought over from Greece?

Are there clues I can be on the lookout for when I see the tree to help identify it?

Do Greek figs normally do well here in a hot humid climate?

I will try to find out what the name of the city is where he got it.

Do not think about a name at this point.
It can be found out later, when you have ripe fruits.
Ask the person about eye, size, and if it sours when it rains ,and is almost ripe.
Ones you have an answer ,that states,it has a small closed eye and does not sour during rains, you have a good tree for Fl.
The climate is just as mild as Greece, except way more rainy and humid, and ,there is no fig wasp in Florida,so if it fruited for him in Florida,it is self fruitful,

Charkes, hope this would be a gem find.
