Hello

Hello in my quest to find some different figs I came across this forum. Glad i did so much info on here. I bought a fig plant here at my local nursery in odessa,tx a couple of weeks ago and i knew then I was hooked. So my quest to find other varieties was on which brought me here. Just thought i would say Hi. I'm just starting out and have just acquired a Celeste and a brown turkey tree so far. My challenge is to find varieties that will do well here in this West Texas dry heat. So if you have info on which varieties do well in my area let me know.  If anyone has some cuttings to share drop me a message. I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
Stacey

Welcome to the forum, Stacey. What can you tell us about your local growing conditions?

Very dry sandy soil. Currently in drought conditions. I plan to keep my trees in containers.

Stacey,

Back in the 90's . I was stationed at White Sands Missile Range by El Paso . At the  golf course , on post were several large fig trees. One was a Texas Everbearing and the other two were Magnolias. They were by the club house in an edible garden , along with low chill varieties of apples and pears.

Thanks ill check around for those.

Welcome Stacey! Enjoy the fig fellowship.

Welcome to forum may your journey into figs be fun.

Hi Stacey! Search for the new bag method of rooting cuttings. It works really well. I use long fibered spagnum and a very light potting mix instead of the perlite. I'm on cell phone only so I can't get things easily. 1-3 weeks ago there were a few threads on cuttings where people talked about how they did things. You could search on thread titles with cutting or root in the title. Welcome and best of luck with your cuttings which are boxed and will ship Thu am.

Thanks look forward to getting them.
