eboone- you had me cracking up with your advice.
I will try to answer as many questions as i can.
I am not currently growing those giant figs. The tree those figs came from is in Italy, near La Spezia. They tasted great, very sweet. As for the variety, he knows of 2 varieties, green and purple. Unfortunately my relatives in italy who tired to grow cuttings from that tree were unable to produce figs as large as his, but they were still delicious. I will be asking my stateside relatives if they have clones of that tree. I don't know yet if my grandmother's tree is the same one.
I will update everyone when i have more answers.
As far as trades- as of right now i dont have that big fig. I only have chicago hardy and a bunch of an unknown variety from italy. I will probably be asking for help to ID it when it has leaves and fruit.
