Hello! I'm A Newie.

Hi all,

I just came across this forum by accident and decided to check it out.

I'm an 18 years old lady and I love to eat figs! I've just started gardening and enjoy it very much. One of my new year resolutions is to grow at least ONE fig tree! But I'm not sure where to get the cutting. I have so much to learn and am very excited to know more about it.

Any advice would be most welcome. Thank you!

Hello and welcome! Figs are a good place to start growing fruit. They are not hard to grow and you get the rewards early and often! Growing fruit can be very addicting so be fore warned! Starting at such a tender age you will become a fruit monster by the time your 25. Enjoy the ride;)

Welcome to the Greatest Fig Forum in the Universe
You might reconsider your New Year's Resolution -
You don't need to grow just ONE Fig Tree, You need to grow AT LEAST 100 Fig Trees this year :)
And after you reach that benchmark, shoot for the next 100...and so on, and so on...
Just kidding! But soon you may find yourself in the same boat
Maybe I can get a grab-bag of starter cuttings out to you to play with?
Have Fun & Happy Figging,

welcome. i think we have other members from m'sia or near around there.

Welcome here, you very young ("18 years old lady").

Most probably; it may be best for you, to find/buy
an already small rooted fig tree locally...

No,  rooting your own fig cuttings is not that hard either.

Welcome

Hope you enjoy it here!

Welcome

Welcome to the forum.

hiya. nice to meetcha.

Welcome to the forum.
Not sure how much of this you know yet. Because of laws designed to protect agricultural crops from imported pests and diseases, it may be hard for you to import cuttings or plants from outside your country. In some instances fines and / or confiscation of imported plant materials is the eventual result.

Thank you so much for all the kind and hilarious feedback, I appreciate it. I see most of you have a wish list, and I have just learnt that there are so many varieties, amazing!

:)

Welcome aboard!  There's a wealth of information here to get you started. :)

Hello and welcome to the fig side.

Welcome!  Get a Facebook acct if you don't already have one and look for Figs Malaysia.  He has some incredible varieties that most of us would love to get our hands on but can't.  He can set you up with a great fig collection.

Welcome, you will find a lot of information here but growing them in your climate I agree with Bob, there are a couple of Facebook fig groups that are in Malaysia and Indonesia, this is one https://www.facebook.com/groups/ficus4all/1506814656209722/?notif_t=group_activity
