Help identify fig

Hi ,

This is the breba crop and as of yet I dont see a main crop forming. The flavor was sweet but could have spent another day or 2 on the tree.
This tree is originally from a cutting from southern Italy and the fruit are supposed to be the size of oranges when planted in ground ,according to the guy I got it from .

Thanks ........... john

I thought it might be white marseilles but another fig tree I have and just posted to identify was unanimously voted as white marseilles has diff fruit.
The fruit on this tree is ribbed and larger.
Can they both be white marseilles ?

Thanks .... John

My best guess would be ficazzana.

Hey Nelson ,

I looked up some pics on ficazzana and I think you might be right . It looks the same with ribbed surface and leaf style and crunchy seeds .
Thanks for your input too Alan .
Thanks ..... John

Could it be Gillette ? Near the eye it looks like male flowers.

Leaf shape looks about right? Eh?

I do believe so my friend, just surprised Alan didn't mention that earlier hmmmm.

I have to agree . It seems to fit the bill .
Can this fig be used to manually fertilize Smyrna types ?

John
