Help Identify Fig

This fig was sold by a local nursery as Hardy Chicago.
I notified the supervisor of the gardening area that the leaves don’t look like HC.  They are long finger like leaves similar to Dalmatie, Stella and some other figs.  He said he knew for a fact that the tree was H.C.
The tree was on sale and looked nice so I took it anyway.  Have found unknowns to be full of pleasant surprises.
Thanks for your help!

Looks like sweet joy kind of

Hey Pino, how many type of fig trees, that would be surviving 7b, would have leaves like the ones in your photo?

I ask because I have access to a tree with that type leaf, but it has no fruit yet because its only been in ground a year.

@Richie, you have sharp sight!
The skin and flesh look the same!
The taste was very sweet rich honey.  Very pleasant to eat.

@Peter, there seems to be quite a few figs with this leaf shape.  I know of Dalmatie, Stella, Dan's Greek and this one.  Does this leaf shape define a group of figs from some area?

The leaves and fruit look similar to this variety.

Thanks Figgysid!
I do see the similarity in shape with the Brunswick leaf.  I will follow up on that lead.

I will take a photo of it tomorrow, it looks like the Brunswick leaf, the tree is in Oceanside Long Island. All the guy knew was the figs were large.

Hi Pino,
Brunswick is a light colored fig. Not dark skinned ...
Your first tree resembles brunswick/Goutte d'or although the figs are a bit small for Goutte d'or. But the fruit being off-centered is true for Goutte d'or.
IMO, your brunswick is too dark to be one ... You have another unknown there :) .

Another nice find congratulations.

I have read about Brunswick fig and I also thought that it was a greenish shin with a red interior.

Thanks Jdsfrance I see the similarities with Goutte d'or now!

Also thanks for the heads up on my Brunswick (not) purchased from a trusted source but we know errors happen.
Luckily I have another Brunswick that I traded for.  I was going to trade the 2nd away this summer I am glad I didn't now.

Sweet Joy (SRN 6) is a nice looking fig!!
Is there a photo of the leaves?

It has a similar closed eye and it looks like it can pour out fig honey also!

Will look for leaf pic

I was able to get a branch, I hope I can root it before winter.

Peter, your fig could be same mine.
But it could also be 5 or 6 other figs with long finger like leaves.  You will need to wait until you get some figs to know for sure.

Thanks Pino, was it crazy to try and root it now? Will keep you updated

Nice find, Pino.

I think you'll get roots, Peter :-)

@pino My Doree of French origin looks exactly like yours.

@Sas - thanks!

Goes to show gambling on unknowns can pay off nicely!

Thanks to all for the suggestions and varietal information!
Now I welcome Doree (aka Goutte d'Or, Brunswick) to my fig collection!

Summary of suggestions;
Thanks Richie for the Sweet Joy (SRN 6) suggestion.  They do look similar but no leaf pictures to compare so will leave this as a future discussion item.

Doree (SAS) , Brunswick (Figgysid1), Goutte d'or (jdsfrance) -

Looks like a dead ringer!
My understanding from checking these figs on the forums is that these figs are the same variety and the names are synonyms of each other.  The photos of the figs and leaves I have found look the same as my unknown fig!
If they are not the same fig then they are very close strains with any differences explainable due to location, growing culture or plant health.

The only way to know for sure is to grow them side by side for a few years under the same conditions.  I have 2 Brunswick from trusted sources so I will have a chance to grow these side by side.  For now I will append Pino to the fig name so this will be my version of Doree!

Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.

Here are photos today after a rainfall that split the eye.
