Help identify this wonderful fig

Hi all,

Three trees in a backyard in Sonoma County, CA. The trees are quite old, probably 60+ years. The golden brown figs are fully ripe. Taste like rich honey-dipped strawberries. The flesh is quite thick and viscous compared to other figs I've had. No cavity in the figs. When fully ripe they begin to sag some on the branch before dropping.

Any help identifying would be much appreciated!

Not certain what type of fig it is, sorry.

But it looks like a good find.
Welcome to the forum.

Hi, Darwin

welcome to the forum! without the proper pictures, figs can be very difficult to identify properly (they can be difficult even with them!). What would help most is to have pictures of the whole ripe fruit, the halved fruit (lenghtwise), and the leaf shapes found after mid-season. If you can include a quarter or something of a commononly known size for reference would be helpful also. Your tree does sound delicious though and I'm sure many members would be intrested in trading or buying cuttings from you (myself included!). Once again, welcome!!

Maybe a Brunswick, though the fingers on the leaves a little weak for Brunswick.

Maybe Flanders?

It looks like WUhan.

Looks like a Brunswick to me.

Can't help you with the identification, sorry. BUT, if you ever have access to the plants for cuttings I would most definitely be interested.  Welcome to the forum!!

I have access and will be taking cuttings from this fig around February. I would be open to scion trades.  Here are some more pics with scale, skin, flesh, and leaf in closer detail. It may be Brunswick given the leaf shape and fruit?

I agree with you on Brunswick. Thanks for the additional pics.
