Help me decide

what to order and from whom.  I live in zone 8 already have a poorly producing brown turkey and an lsu purple.  I want two more figs that are significantly different in taste from what I have.  Was considering Violette de Bordeaux or Mission or Black Jack and Italian Honey or Peter's Honey.  Is there a difference?
I was going to order from James Robin--mainly because I was excited about talking to him on the phone or from Edible landscaping.  Ideas?

you live east coast.  i do not recommend Mission, they swell like from rains leaving the fruit inedible, exploding at the seams, and/or souring.  they soak up water like sponges.

i have a Black Jack, still hasn't fruited yet, no comment.  i don't usually like white figs, so the honey figs don't excite me.  i would get the VdB and maybe a Hardy Chicago, Gino's Black or ... ??

Out of what you said I would get a dark and a light. VDB and IH.

But beware... You'll have them all sooner rather than later.

The fever will catch you.

Oh trust me, i've got the fever.  The problem is that I won't be home most of the summer and do not trust my family to give my plants the TLC they need, so I must wait until August to procure.

AND to add to the confusion, yesterday I went to a nursery and saw Marseilles and Gabluns (?) full of figs.  Gabluns, about which I'd never heard until yesterday, are supposed to be the most prolific fig in my area.  Do I need these too???  Do I need these instead of the VDB and Italian Honey?

Galbun, not Gablun.

Brown Turkey is supposed to be "most prolific" in my area according to the nurseries, but it tastes like crap. Not saying those two you named are bad, rather ... Nurseries and their employees are often full of crap.

Ireily,

JR still operates on the honor system......talk to him and he may well hold your fig tree selections for fall shipping.
