Help please, looking for Smith Fig Plant.

Hello to All,  I'm done googling , binging and  Yahooing for a Smiths Fig plant;))
Can someone help Me find a Smiths Fig plant.
Any advice, leads. Any info on how I can acquire one would really be appreciated.
I find Myself being Hooked on Figs. Somebody Help Me;) I'm trying to collect LSU Varieties. Thanks to this forum I've learned that for My area (Central Florida) these varieties should do good here. As for the Smith I'm hoping it will do good here as well.
So if anyone can guide Me Or recommend a vendor to Me, I would really appreciate it.

Thank You in advance

The smith fig is out of stock but i would call you never know .
Good luck.

I believe that J.R. still have a few smith's left. I just talked to him last week.
If you send him a self-address envelop he will send you the list of fig's he grow for this next season.

Thank You Martin, I've visited their website but will call them this week.
Luak, I'm not familiar with J.R.  Is there a phone number or website that I can get some info from?

Thanks for The Input.

do a google search for James Robin figs. His phone number is somewhere on the other fig forum I believe. If you do the search you will find it for sure though

His contact info is at the top of the sheet.  Inspect your roots for RKN (root knot nematodes) carefully, the majority of trees he's sent me have been infected.

I ordered from Durio last week.  No problems here!  His web site isn't updated and may have it.

Never had a problem with any of JR's figs Jason very sorry to hear that. He's actually been sending everything in bare root in the fall. I think because he did have some complaints, but not from me.

I have purchased over a dozen of plants from JR and never found a RNK infected plant. On the other hand, earlier this year received few plants from a very well known grower in CA that they were infected with RNK. Bottom line is- always check the roots, no matter where they came from.

Navid.

I received all of my trees from him bareroot back in late 2009.  2/4 had RKN, one was grossly obvious infection, even bareroot, I'm blown away he shipped it.  One tree died mysteriously, and another member here had similar experience with the same variety from him.  The last tree was OK.

I guess I just have bad luck, although I've heard similar stories privately after sharing my story publicly.

Definitely not trying to badmouth the guy even though some folks have gotten extremely pissed at me for sharing my buying experience publicly.  Some folks only want you to post nice stuff for a number of reasons, but I'm more about being real.  I posted pics of the worst RKN infection (Marseilles), the Hollier was infected with something that led to it scaling over and dying - fortunately it didn't spread.  I airlayered my LSU Scott's Black due to mild case of RKN that exploded in the first year (fortunately prior to up-potting).  Kadota is the only tree that didn't show signs of RKN or other infection and has grown fairly well.

Edit:  I would just add that when I purchased in 2009, the main reason I purchased from him is because folks loyal to him told me "he HAD issues with RKN, but that was a while back and he fixed that".  Wrong.  I hope he truly has fixed the problem(s) by now.  His infected trees infected my main tomato and pepper beds, I had to gut the soil from them, it wasn't cheap.  Those trees cost me more in the long run.  I should've ordered from Durio, but I was trying to help an old guy out and save some coin (Durio is expensive).

I visited JR and Dalton in March.  I told JR that some forum members were skepical about buying from him due to his RKN problem.  He said heard about that but since them got rid of his RKN problem.  He double checks his trees before shipping.  But Jason correct.  He use to have a RKN problem.  Getting trees from JR or Dalton, doesn't matter, according to Dalton, sometimes they trade.  So, if you bought a fig from JR, it could have come from Dalton and vice versa.

Bought a Smith tree from J.R. last fall and it is growing extremely well.I find him a very likecable person. His tel no:337-407-0188.I would not hesitate buing from him.If you send him a self-adress enveloppe he will send you a list of what he has.

I really appreciate all the info and advice that all of You gave Me in My search for Smiths Fig. I had a member PM Me and I'm hoping He can ship Me the Smith that He has available.  But J.R. will be receiving a call from Me soon.
My mouth is constantly getting watery when I read about Col De Dame Blance and Ronde de Bordeaux. LOL I'm looking into these two as a possibility of growing them here in Central Florida. Zone 9b

Thank You All for the input once again.
