Help with Fig ID

I got this fig about 5 years ago as a bonsai experiment.  The person said its a Mission (and this was from the east coast), but the leaves and the fruit are not mission.  To me it looks like a white fig - anyone have any ideas?  I did cut one, but it was not good. It was slightly reddish inside but if you see my additional pictures below, once its fully ripe, its really not red.  I will cut the second fruit soon and take another picture.

Pls let me know before you send it to fig heaven.  Sometimes a change in venue helps.

The fig looks like it could have stayed on the tree another couple weeks. Was this fig soft? If there are others, let them stay on the tree longer.

Welcome to the forum!

Yep it was soft. Going to let it stay on longer the next time.

It looks like a white fig? - when ripe it was more yellow inside than anything else. It tasted like sweet honey and even the skin and rind were tasty and not like some of my green figs.

Kadota? Adriatic?  I haven't owned these so I don't know.

Also the mature leaves are very narrow - see pic - so that is making it harder to ID this.

Fruit was about a quarter and a half large at most. varieties like LSU gold are bigger I believe.

See also the pics at the starting post.

I have never seen this leaf before, so you will have to wait till one of the experts can identify. It isn't Adriatic, it would have red pulp. Not LSU either. I have Kadota and my leaves don't match that. Sorry, I can't help.

exactly its a mystery to me too - and this is a mature leaf - and all leaves look like that. - thanks for helping! :-)

Take a look at the Aked fig on the varieties page. The leaves look about right as does the fruit.

Thanks James - have been going through it - I threw out Aked originally because the inside was not that red at all.  Also the leaves middle prong is the longest and not so even with the secondary prongs.  I will keep searching though!!!

I've seen pictures of this white fig with Negronne-like leaves posted before on this forum twice or thrice?

If memory serves correctly, last person to post was from the PA area and was living in a rental house where there was a fig tree growing up under the fence and the landlord cut it down.  They were asking for advice on what to do.  I ... might be mistaking it with another person posting a Kadota, which this definitely is not.

I can't find the thread, sadly.

Jason, you are right, its so close, except my fruit is not purplish or dark and the inside is not red like mission.  the outside is completely yellow/white and if ripened has only the slightest hint of red.  Unripened, there is more red.  Sigh.

But one thing I do know, its damn tasty when ripened.  I am keeping it and hopefully it will get larger.

I went through the ENTIRE varieties list A-#, I know a lot of them do not have any pictures and some looked like the fruit, but no leaf pics. :-(

What I am finding out though is that there are a lot of figs and hybrids out there, so perhaps, I do have one of them.

I will keep growing them and post again next year the results!!!
