He traded with me and my Tony's Greek has been id as Osborne Prolific. However that said, he has an extra "n" on the name Tony's. If it is the real Tony's Greek from me, it is a large fig. I junk all his figs -- almost all are Brunswick and it could be a real embrassment if I had traded those rooted cuttings with others. Be wary --- when we traded he was using the webname "Sodapopmum" and he initiated the trade.

Came across this (below) few minutes ago,

http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://1001figs.com/ficuscarica/albums/userpics/10001/normal_bm2.gif&imgrefurl=http://1001figs.com/ficuscarica/displayimage.php%3Fpid%3D11&usg=__TpttkWZ8Uq3PKBnsd3PW9UAl48k=&h=300&w=400&sz=39&hl=en&start=1&zoom=1&tbnid=2QJ3up3AoJGS6M:&tbnh=93&tbnw=124&ei=aNkYT_nePMi-gAewuMzTCw&prev=/search%3Fq%3DZergas%2Bblack%2Bfig%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Den%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1

when the page opens click on "Home" there you'll see lots of fig photos posted by the same guy, mifigs4fun. Has anyone else seen those pics before?

I looked into retracting my bid, and from what I read its not aloud. You can lower if you made a mistake. I will keep them apart from rest of my figs and wait a few years to see what they are. I am not happy about this.

I just checked those listings. It says they have been removed. So looks like the warnings work. I see he even has 100% feedback rating. That is the bad side of buying plants on Ebay. By the time you realize they are the wrong ones it is too late to post feedback.

Martin,
Thanx for the BUMP.  I saw these eBay listings this morning before I logged onto the forum. I thought they looked a little fishy. Then I looked at the sellers name and then it clicked . I was told about him when I started a thread about another eBay seller Back on the 24th of Feb.

Yes, there are open auctions from this creep.

I would think if one told eBay this man is a fraud, they could undo a bid for you.  Maybe not.  If everyone who got a bad/fraudulent tree from this guy contacted eBay, it might do some good.

My Black Madeira that I purchased from him at great cost 6 years ago or so produces white figs. A couple others are also not what they were advertised to be. I can forgive him but he gets no further business from me. Purchase at your own risk.

Hi All, was just reading this thread about mifig4fun,,,, I hoping that he's stopped his BS selling. I was just wondering why no one has that been crossed by this sackoshyt hasn't gone and paid him a visit? I've read that people have traded cuttings with him  so he must have a traceable address, I know that if someone that low did that to me I'd be looking for some payback.

GEEZ, for the life of me I can not fathom why anyone would go to that much trouble to rip people of for a few dollars, how can that pos sleep at night knowing that he's blatantly ripping people off ???????????? all I can say is that one day he'll get his payback, if not from the big guy upstairs.

Blb i also years ago got the famed Madeira from him but i did not let it produce no darn white fig it never produce any fig for as soon as i realized it was not Madeira it went straight to the burn can along with all the pictures i took of it.

Rookie while everyone has there own opinion i would never go to ones castle looking for trouble its not worth the hassle getting in trouble over a fig tree which it could easily lead to.

People who commonly rip people off probably have no trouble sleeping. That's just wishful thinking. And while it's nice to think such people eventually will get justice of some sort, they often don't. Things don't always even out. Just the way of the world.

So what's a person to do? In life it truly is 'let the buyer beware'. So be careful, ask around, and find out what you can before you buy, then hope for the best. And if you get taken, as can happen, deal with it the best you can.

Martin you're very right about going to get some payback but it just pisses me off when someone does it with no thought as to what they are doing to people who are just trying to enjoy the hobby they love. with that said and done I hope that you all don't get tired of me asking who is safe to buy from.

Gina I actually do believe he will get his just reward. No guarantee any of us will be there when it happens though. I do agree, he has no problem sleeping, little or no consience.

"Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord" Rookie. Don't do anything that would jeaopardise yourself. There are postings that will let you know who are safe to buy from. One thing to look for right on the ebay listing if you are buying from there, is that many of the trustworthy sellers will indicate what their forum names are and you can just come here and confirm.

The dude lives less than fifteen minutes away from me.
I talked with him once or twice before I joined the two forums. I thought he was a class act but for some reason he suddenly didn't answer my calls or return my emails. Can't remember which but still I thought it was a little strange.
I think I learned why when I joined the forums.

Oh well, I think there was a good reason for me not being able to meet him.

The above mentioned culprit and also the creep who at least has enough integrity to call himself what he is - "hiddenlurker". I had a spicy exchange with him and  filed fraud claims with eBay several times with no response. Guess I'll have to buy something from him to have them pay attention to a report.

Ebay will probably do nothing unless you actually buy from the guy, but if you know he's trouble why waste your money? I've seen his listings and am convinced he has no clue of what he's doing. At least the forum members who read this have been warned

hmmmmmm. In this thread I noticed this guy was calling himself "sodapopmom" which threw up a red flag. The person selling all those Sicilian Red cuttings was called "popcornqueen 1987" and now there are Sicilian Red cuttings being sold under another name "leskev1212" but using the same picture. Alert ! Alert!
I wonder if any of this is related? There is something definitely going on between popcornqueen1987 and leskev1212 as they are selling the same cuttings or at least using the same picture to do so.
How best to warn other forum members?
Any suggestions?

I think the plain and simply solution to this is and has been said many many times over is to deal with members from both forums. If the seller does not identify his or her self as a forum member then the buyer is on his/her own.

Yes, we are here to help. But we can't help everyone, and that goes with eBay buyers.

On the other hand, granted there is one product by different sellers/names. He or they are selling one item only. Who is to say they aren't legit?

I'm not defending this person/s. By all means no. But like everything in life, be cautious..

Complaining to ebay isn't going to get nothing but heartache or a headache. Ebay is making money out of these sellers, so unless you can prove the seller is doing wrong ebay is justing going to brush you aside.

Well, the fig cutting thing on eBay is a very tricky thing given its hard to know for two years what we really have, but this is his ID history on eBay:
eBay Member User ID History
The box below contains the User IDs that this member has used on eBay.

i rarely buy anything off ebay, unless the item is not available anywhere. limited edition knives are about the only things that i buy there and i usually check with knife forum before bidding on the item. few min of search will prevent headache later on.

also, i know lot of members love bidding and winning on the ebay. and i think there are list of forum members who post their cuttings and plants there. we can trust those members. lately i have seen people posting item with description indicating they belong to this forum. makes things easier. check and verify. that 100% rating from what i understand is not very reliable.
