Hey Bass check this out!

he/she is also the newest member of the forum.

On top of it- It's stamped with Trees of Joy

I wonder if Bass gave these guys permission to use his photos?  If not, how rude!

I really don't think Bass gave someone permission to use a Ronda de Bordeaux pix to sell LSU Purple plants.

You can always ask the seller why he is using the wrong pix.

I bet they didn't even notice the stamp,,, it's a little hard to see unless you're looking for it.... Thievin Bastids.

thanks for your concerns, just to add to this fig confusion i already have a listings for ronde de bordeaux with same photo.
the photo has been reported.

I can't understand if you have that fig variety to sell why you wouldn't have your own pictures yet?  I wouldn't sell my car by posting someone elses pictures of a similar model.

Its a shame it really is. Its happening with more occurrence now as figs become more popular .

No, the 'borrowed' photo is still up. At the link, look just up from the bottom of the fig on the left - you'll see very light 'trees of joy.com'

I took their Elmo for a little vigilante justice. Funny thing is when you try to copy part of their ads using right click it says images are copyrighted and not available for download.
Ctrl+c saves Elmo's day.
edit: Freed him into the wild

This is always so wrong. No other way to put it. I agree with you tmc2009, if you have the tree post your own pictures. When ever I see someone using someone elses photos it throws up a big red flag. Thank you Dennis for pointing this out.

Suggestion, everyone with an ebay account write to the vendor and tell them we don't apreciate them stealing our friend's photo. I did that last night. And by no means purchase anything from these idiots!

It's also listed as a seedling.  If they truly grew it from seed, I'm really sure I don't want to waste my time with that.

Seriously we should all write to this vendor expressing our displeasure with the practice of stealing photos and we shoul do it with every other jackass who tries this too. These idiots keep popping up trying to benefit from the work of others and clearly they know nothing about the figs to begin with.

I don't see the Trees of Joy logo when I look, but I did notice the "Other Fig Varieties" table toward the bottom of the page--I have seen that somewhere else along with other photos on the page.  REVISIONS data indicates a picture was added/deleted on 7/26 and 7/26.  And you can see seller's email address on the page along with their website.
I think it is just horrid that someone would steal the photos.   Poor business tactics and completely unethical...IMHO.

He contacted me and took the picture out. he said he googled a fig picture and that's how he got it. I did educate the seller that he needs to use a proper photo for the variety his selling rather then misleading.

Good going Bass glad to hear its resolved for you.

He just googled for another pix and took one from Here  Gotta love it.

That settles it for me.  Some people are just hopeless F'ing idiots.

No respect.  No decency.

I requested of (suggested to) eBay that they provide ebay members (such as me) with the capability to list "sellers to avoid".  It could be just our own personal lists  (they allow "favorite sellers"... why not "unfavorite sellers"?).  Or they could make it something members could share with each other, in a variety of different ways.  But I doubt they'll do it... ebay really doesn't care if they have bad sellers, as long as they pay their ebay fees.  And as long as it doesn't get so bad that they lose transaction business from buyers staying away because of the bad sellers.  I know lots of people do stay away, but the bottom line is there are too many "sucker" buyers out there, who don't seem to connect the dots that the marketplace itself (ebay) could and should enforce abuses better than they do.  So I don't think that ebay will become more "buyer oriented" any time soon.  I've told them that's the reason that my buying activity on ebay has reduced so drastically  (and it has... I think twice or thrice before turning to ebay for most things these days, and usually find it elsewhere instead).

Ebay doesn't want to focus on negatives, that's bad business practice, so I doubt a list of bad sellers will ever be generated for public consumption. They do police vendors, but they are restricted by law as to what they can do. It is unfortunate that there are some who will knowingly misrepresent a product for the sake of making money, but we all know how old that story line is. Sadly it will always boil down to buyer beware. On a brighter note, I have been buying things, for years from ebay with only a few real problems.  I learned quickly that the seller must be reliable. I've bought many succulent plants never been burned, when I started with figs, that's when I got torched, but only from one seller.

here's an idea and something to think about.....and we may need Jon's approval.  For those who sell on eBay, we could start one post that list known absolute non-photo stealing sellers.  When you sell on eBay, in your add description refer buyers to that post in this forum to see reputable sellers.

What do you think?

The members here can add there ebay name to there signature line
Jon has not spanked me yet in a year or so for doing it.

Mike what I started doing is I list them in my favorite sellers list, then in the notes area right under their eBay handle I put do not buy from this seller in caps. This has been the easiest way for me to track people I do not want to buy from and it lets me see when they are selling.
