Richie,
Welcome to THE forum, where it all happens :)

Welcome!
Good luck with rooting those new varieties

Have yall used this new style method of rooting?

And thank yall for the welcoming :)

Welcome,
Good look rooting your cuttings

Welcome, and good luck with your cuttings!

Welcome!

Welcome to the forum Richie, it may be worth your while to try a few different methods to see what works best for you. There should be enough fig trees growing in your area to ask for some free cuttings to experiment with, that way if a method does not work then you will not lose any $. After losing most of my first year cuttings to mold and whatever, I start all cuttings in 1 gallon pots and never battle any mold. It is humid enough here to root without adding any humidity. This is not a method for all areas, I have the warm temperatures and humidity that is required. It sure is an easy and carefree method, gives me a lot of extra time to do other things. Good luck, good growing and again, welcome.

Actually thats how i been doing it i use a five gallon bucket with holes, drilled on bottom. I put half cutting in bucket half in baggies. The ones in bucket are allready have growth. Bagies nothing yet. I figured i try baggy method because all the hype. Maybe because i live in south louisiana i dont have to bag like people up north.

Thanks everyone for the welcoming. Didnt know there was, other fig people out there in the underground fig world. Been researching all the rare figs and, getting them. My wife tells,me quit figging!!! I tell her i cant i am hooked.

Tell her it is cheaper than golf... worked wonders with my bride...

Welcome to the forum!

welcome to the forum.
good luck rooting your new cuttings.
wow!!! 150 cuttings and a new method...
i wish i could give you some pointers. but i am an expert on killing them not rooting them.
i hope they all take!!!
if you get good outcome... over 90% and you have the time,
give us a play by play.

I will take pic of what i do and post progress. It takes skill and luck with some of the verieties thats for sure. My Lsu figs are taking root after less, then two weeks,,, Dr. O'rourkie breed, them to be vigorous growers, premium taste disease resistance to bad conditions. I am very gratefull that dr Johnson let me in to collect cuttings.

Can you post pic to this site? Haven't figured it out yet

I have taken spanish moss that you buy at hobby store for flower arrangements. Soak in warm water overnight. Take moss wrap it around cutting completely wrap in plastic wrap leaving ends open. I will post pics. Mold can't grow in this moss and it has a natural rooting hormone. The pic i will post shows how i did it root nubs. It is a pastilive fig cuttings. 12 days in moss

go down to more reply options, and after that at the bottom insert photo

Pastilive in Spanish moss rolled in plastic wrap
white rooting nodules are all around it. No mold or rotting

These are tbe pics of rooting with spanish moss

Thanks andreas,

Welcome!  When you're typing in the reply box if you look above the text area you'll see a row of icons.  The 5th one from the right looks something like a TV on a stand.  Click on that to post photos.  They have to be smaller than 100KB or the forum won't accept them.  The Spanish moss sounds like a great idea.  Don't break any roots trying to get them away from the moss.

Thanks rcnantor.
