Known among local fig enthusiasts as the "secret" number one.
Named by the Arabic word "Ahmar" which means red.
The taste is deep and rich.

Thanks for the comments .
Francisco this fig in full ripeness has a lace like cracking ,
And a very fragile skin red in color( could be similar to sbay ). size wise its smaller than sbayi.
I belive its more prolific.
I have followed its behaviour for few seasons and its a solid
Performer in non irrigated land.

Everything I've heard about it has keep it on my short list of figs to still acquire.  Thanks for the great pictures and descriptions.

I got the Palestinian/israeli Hmari as well as the Hmari from Syria. They're totally different. The reference is the the red pulp. Hope to get fruit soon.

Hi Bass
Seems like there are more than 2 hmari varieties. Like wise there's more than 1 Hdari.
Its like the brown turkey confusion probably.
The hmari variety shown here has a red exterior on full ripeness.

As I know there is :
Hmari Beit Jan
Hmari wadi salame

The literature says their identical.

Bass I wonder about your Syrian Hmari. Pls post pics when u can.

Hey Sharon, you missed seeing it Saturday!  It was on the big deck on the right next to Tauro.

This Hmairi from a village just north of the Lebanese Syrian border. It's a medium size, and an early and productive type.
