how accurate is accuweather?

looking at their site, it looks like there won't be any frost for rest of the year. meaning i can put all my trees out there other than more precious ones. anyone?

Pete they have gotten better over the years but old saying here in our area still stands
"if you dont like the weather wait 5 minutes it will change"   ; )

Gah......I am in central Florida and we have a forecast low of 33 freaking degrees tomorrow night.    I just put 26 cuttings started in December in the ground last couple days and now worried about them.......  Politicians and weathermen two biggest liars out there.

I would be careful.  In my area, it has been wrong by as much as 5 deg.  Just recently 37 actually ended up as 31, fortunately only about an hour but long enough to frost my cars.  I have lost a few tropicals to their misses.  Actually, it is my impatience!!!!  I keep all my special plants in until all forecasts are above 40.

3 and 4 yr old trees, i'm not too worried about.. it's the 1 yr old ones. i know i'm keeping few precious ones inside garage, but i know they want fresh air and sun. oy..

Pete, check this forecast out  http://classic.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=RDU,%20North%20Carolina&wuSelect=WEATHER

We are going to be in the mid-upper twenty's tonight in middle Georgia.

I put a few test trees out already. Many of my trees are leafing out and forming brebas in my garage, so I'm gonna see if it's better to expose them to a little cold or keep them warm and allow that growth just burn off later when I normally put them out. Only put a few out so I can easily get them back into shelter. I'm thinking a few light frosts might be better than expending energy on growth that will not survive anyway.

i've done that last year.. got all the new buds frozen off on the last frost. they all turned mushy, but they all bounced back with new buds. i'm planning to push the vegitative growth on all my younger trees this year, so i'll be keeping them in garage for little longer.

Mostly, it is accurate...
But sometimes one may be better-off (guessing) by just putting own hand out an open window...

Now, I hear that there are two different weather-prediction-computer-models; USA and EU....
Maybe these two experts should so some talking and lean from each other...

I usually monitor 3 different sites to check weather.  Accuweather (widget on my phone).  Then Whether.com app and Fox Weather App on my phone.  If any show antwhere close to freezing, I bring my plants back inside.

unless something changes suddenly it seems i'm free to put everything out side very very soon. seems like it will be above 40 for the rest of the spring other than 2 nights where it will go slightly below 40.

Pete here in Pensacola they are usually right. I have checked numerous times this Winter and they have nailed the low temp every time. Having said that we have had extremely mild temps this year. Good luck!

Weather predicting has gotten so much better over the years. But there are no gaurantees. Even with all the new-fangled contraptions, it's still the best guess possible.

Here frost is extremely rare - a once in a decade event, and only very light. I can't imagine the difficulty of growing figs in a climate with really cold weather. Kudos to those of you who make it work.

Weather forecasts are plus or minus a couple degrees a day or two out. They are plus or minus about 10 degrees 10 days out. Pretty impressive.

Just remember this time last year it was 80 in Chicago and stayed that way for about a week; just like the forecast said.  Then came the cold. A frost made it all the way to Charlotte, NC on April 11th.

There is no forecast accurate a month out and a frost should be considered in the realm of possibility through mid April for zone 8 growers in the Southeast. The GFS model (the longest term one run by the NOAA at 16 days) shows 850 mb tembs below 32 almost all the way to the Gulf on 3/29 (approximates morning low on clear days). Anyone is this region should expect frosts through that time frame.

Here is the map.

I've never used accuweather, but wunderground is really good, you can see climate data for your location going back years to see patterns.
