Yesterday I saw this tree while I rode around a friend's village.
It is an old fig tree and, in my opinion, "a bit" neglected. It took my attention how densely branchy it is.

It's definitely neglected. Did you feel like taking a clipper and prune the tree?

I think that would be an all-day job for sure.  There would be enough cuttings at the end of the process that you could plant a 5-acre orchard, too.

Reminds me of some of the fig trees in my town in Madeira Island. Some People dont believe in pruning their trees.

I see this all the time through out Texas along the border towns of Mexico.
Some people are just not into it as we are. The beatings these trees take. Dried branches that should have been removed at least a year or two earlier, If not longer.

I would like one day to approach one of them and offer some money for some cuttings. Since I am on my way to Laredo I think I will do that.

Rafed, you should ask them to pay you for pruning their trees.

To keep unpruned a fig tree is a must to get this branch system, but I know a lot of old never-pruned fig trees and they haven't those branches.
In this case and in my opinion, the variety (probably a local variety) has a big effect.
Note also the hanging shape of the tree, it resembles a weeping willow.

It is also possible that this is a seedling fig tree. Trees grown from seeds tend to be more vigorous some times.

In that orchard there were several apparently younger fig trees very similar in shape and branch system, for sure they were clones.

I suppose that, if I am right, this variety has some value. I wouldn't propagate a fig if it isn't good.
