how cold is too cold?

Looking at weather prediction for Florida next week going to get 28 and 30 degrees for a couple days. I have some young just rooted and potted figs in small plastic green house. What is the lowest temp I should let these figs get? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Brian

They sound easy enough move, I would bring them indoors if it were me.

Hi Brilan1972,
If the weather warms up in the day, then it is ok .
You should avoid several freezing night & day in a row as that can get the pots frozen solid and will get the temps inside the greenhouse to drop - unless it is heated.
Now for peace of mind, if you've got a sunny spot in the house, then at least move one pot per strain, just to be safe.

I wouldn't let a recently rooted plant get under 60 degrees.  Best to keep them over 70.

Going under 6o may not kill them but it would set them back.  I wouldn't want a plant like that going into dormancy until I was sure it had enough stored energy to get back out.

Thanks for the replies! I'm going to bring them in I just wasn't sure, but since they are young I want to give them the best chances so I will bring them inside.

Bring them in please!

Don't take any chances Brian, I am south of you and when it gets in 30s, it stays there for only a few hours and then we are back up to 50-70, last year I had no damage and no frost. Luckily, we have been in the 60s at night and middle 80s daytime (most of the time). This year, I keep mine in a small plastic enclosure since I have some hard to get cuttings. You live close to Frank FMD and Jimmie JD, I believe Leon and Jefferson? so contact them and see what they do in your area. Good luck and good growing.
