. How Do You Eat Your Figs

How to you eat your figs?

Do you peel it or eat it with the skin?

It depends on the variety.  Mostly, I look east, west  and if there is no interference, I pop the whole thing into my mouth.  I then munch, look east..west...straight ahead as though nothing happened, and when I get around the corner... YES!!!

Just me

Suzi

Always w/skin, but I like to cut them in half to share with the family.

Usually all of it.  Like many fruits and vegetables the skin contains a lot of nutrition.  In some it adds a whole lot of flavor.

Skins of course. If you don't eat the skins then it's like eating a sandwich without the bread. ;)

That's funny, that's what i do at my neighbors fig tree at night hahahaha...

With skin but sometimes I rip it in half to make sure there's no unwanted extras inside them but I never peel.

I peel them all in a plate, cut them in half to make sure that there is
no surprises and i sit on my balkany .
Some how i find them more tastier without the skin.

Two bites. First one to look at the pulp. Second one to finish off the rest. If I happened to see things moving inside after first bite, I take a second to consider if I'm going to add extra protein to my diet, and eat the rest all the same :)

Well I guess if the skin is super thick I would peel it but I have never had a fig with a thick skin you couldn't even peel the figs I have eaten there so thin skinned.

Right off the tree skin and all unless im in the mood to take some pictures first.
Oh and i can eat a whole bunch and then fall asleep on the swing on patio.
Its nice being retired.

One time at band camp I ate 20 figs and it made my mouth hurt
so I peeled the next 20 and it didn't hurt anymore : )

Debbie i recall band camp well use to be part of the field setup crew.
Some years back the school won state at ISU.
20 FIGS  easy peasy.  ; )

I rip them in half with my bare hands and eat them flesh side down.

If the skin is thick:
-I invert the fruit and munch on the pulp
-peel it like a mango, munch on pulp

If the skin is thin:
-I take pictures sliced open.... THEN GOBBLE IT LIKE A COOKIE MONSTER ON CRACK

There is nothing like a fresh ripe fig straight off the tree...skin, pulp and all...everything but the stem...    :)

I like them the morning after they are dead ripe on the tree. Love to pluck a cool few while we are on our way to bringing the kids to school.

I actually peel them, put them in the refrigerator for 5 min so they
can be cold and the i sit on my balcony and enjoy them,
mmmm.... I can sit down and eat like 30-40

I prefer to eat them warm, right off the tree.  I've had them after they've been refrigerated and it's just not the same.

Interesting

This seems like a delicious way to eat them. Split them open and place fresh tree ripened almonds inside. Mmmmm. :)

Everything on the forum has been real nice and comfortable until I got part way thru this thread and read Pete's words:

" If I happened to see things moving inside after first bite......."

What pray tell is he referring to?  I've been here a whole week now so I can take it ;-)
Bugs?  Worms?  Other?  I might as well know.....

Usually ants.

typically ants. they add crunch and tart. i haven't seen anything else yet. but after a good rain, flies, bees, wasps, hornets are all over the figs. depends on the damage, i might not even take a bite :)
