How do you pronounce Panache?

I love Panache figs, growing them for a couple of years. But I wonder if I am pronouncing them correctly?

I saw them originally spelled as Panachee, so I was always under the impression that it was pronounced:

Pan-uh-chee

However, when I talk to people about the fig, or see people talking about it on videos, they usually seem to pronounce it as panache (i.e. 'with flair, flamboyant'):

Puh-nash

Does anyone know which one is 'right' ?

If you decide to name that fig as a Frenchman does,  you must pronounce
(pa-na-shay) -        figue panachée      the french adjective panachée has the real meaning (variegated)

The confusion may exist with an almost similarly written word but with a total diff meaning....and pronounciation .. see the phrase....
Starting on July 1, 1952, The Liberace Show debuted as a network television show, with the original piano man performing music with panache on an elaborate .... .etc ..

Hope this helps

I love this kind of stuff. I find it amusing. How about the other 2000 varieties. I get confused with Ischia.

I've heard it pronounced both ways by experienced growers.  Jon from Encanto Farms pronounces it the second way in your two examples at the top (i.e. with flair) so that is probably the correct pronunciation.

Hi,
The correct name is Panachée which is short for figue bourgeassotte Panachée. Now go write Panachée on a qwerty keyboard :) .So some write it Panache.
The correct name is Panachée though. Of course, it is not of high importance, except if you're wanting to exchange information with other growers.
With a newbie with no knowledge in figs, it doesn't matter ...
One could think that Panachée is easily identifiable ... But remember that there are other stripped figs and especially in Italy, they have one that is said
to make the two crops instead of one like Panachée does ...
Keeping the name accurate finally perhaps does matter... So Panachée like P-A-N-A- CHAY - (buy an azerty keyboard ... LOL ... You could use alt+ number to get the é though).
Or copy paste éééééééééééééééé :P

My Panachée dropped her lonely breba... Waiting for the maincrop to set ...
