How long do TC figs take to grow?

Hey all. Just wondering, how long do TC figs take to grow and produce fruit, compared to cuttings? thanks.

plantlover13,
From my experience with tissue culture, It may take 1 year (season) longer to get figs from tissue cultured plants compared to cuttings, with optimal growing conditions. Celeste cuttings started in May 2012, at the same time that small tissue cultured Celeste starts were started, produced marble sized figs by September (they were removed). Only one of the tissue cultured Celeste started to produce figs in late September. With proper culture, you should have figs in the second or third season, depending on your location and length of season.

So then it won't be too much longer of a wait?

Should be one or two seasons longer than a normal cutting.

With cuttings one is using new green growth attached to older hardened off wood. It is the hardened off wood that is speeding up the process being older.

With tissue culture one is getting material from extremely young growth. You could in theory get figs the second season, but these would be best advised removed to allow the plant to put energy into vegetative growth and not to that of fruit production.

Ok, thanks.
