How long till fruit?

I'm in Virginia and bought 2 fig cuttings that were about 8" tall (Negroni and Olympian) last spring. I kept them in their original pots, over wintered them in my garage, and repotted them this spring to bigger pots.

From last year till now, they grew to about 5' tall. I nipped off the top bud of the trees this spring to help them bush out a little, as they had most of their leaves at the top. So far, they are budding out on the sides of the main stems, so I think they may start sending out side branches this year.

I'm fertilizing them with either fish emulsion or compost tea, maybe once every 6 weeks. They are in full sun and the pots are watered every day when it is really hot.

How long can I expect these trees to set fruit? I'll be going into their 2nd year at the end of this season.

Figs will generally fruit in their second year but some will take longer.  I've read that sometimes it can take 4 years or so for individual trees.

I think most recommend pinching the tips around 5 leaves to help induce fruiting.

Good luck.
