How long to wait to put cuttings outside

I have some rooted cuttings in the house, close to a south window. How old do these cuttings have to be before I can take them outside, and do I need to do it gradually? Thank,s Gary
I'm in Oregon zone 8

I have mine in a green house for a week or two after potting. Then they go to 90+% shade for a week or two, starting on a day when it is cooler and humidity is high, and then gradually give them more sun. Getting in too big of a hurry just gets you dead plants.

I just received cuttings from a friend - the fig tree in his yard had been there since the house was built just after WWII.  I am assuming I should follow this guideline and not give my little plants too much sun or heat - right now they are in my garage and I plan to grow them in containers so I can winter them in the garage.  I live in Monroe NY which is in zone 6.  Any advice would be appreciated.

If they are un-rooted cuttings, root them indoors, and then gradually introduce them to the outside world, as explained above. If they are already rooted, give them a week or two to stabilize, and then proceed to acclimate them to the outdoors.

Thank you - yes they are rooted - I will let them settle in, then start acclimating them.
