How often do u use Copper spray?

I am in Maryland and we have really wet spring/summers and both last year and this year my fig trees are already dealing with signs of rust. How often do U use your copper sprays? Once a week? Once 2-3 weeks? This spring it rain just about once every week 2-3 times a week so it's been hard to find the time to spray. Once it rains is it correct that we have to spray again? Thanks!

Figs are a problem as most companies have not tested figs. Hopefully with their rising popularity, they will spend the money to test. i would follow label directions for fruit trees. Most copper sprays are very weak these days, one needs to use a Kocide copper product (copper hydroxide)  for them to be effective. Also using a sticker is just as important, maybe more so than the copper itself.
Copper will stop fig rust before you get it, it though only really works as a preventative, once you have it, it is not going to eliminate, although may protect unaffected leaves.

Never

I use the blue copper powder you can get on ebay and mix it and spray the ground around the trees from the trunk outward and spray trees before they leaf out. Seems to help alot. Ive sprayed leaves too but alot of work. You have to spray the bottom side of leaves were it starts from. Good luck

Copper can harm some leaves, so make sure you follow label directions for fruit trees.
The fig rust I got last year for sure hurt the figs by compromising almost all leaves. You certainly do not want that and not spraying would be a mistake in my opinion. You have to keep it in check.
As Richie mentions spray them before they leaf out, That works the best no doubt. If you don't use a sticker, try oil.

Would neem be better? Opinions?
