how often to water/when to water

hello all,

i have 3 fig plants that is in 12" pot.

reading other fig forum, i need to water when the soil in the bottom of the pot is dried, or if i'm using wick, when the wick is dried. i'm using 5:1:1 mix.

however, how dry is dry? bone dry? or still little moisture left?

i have been watering the fig plants daily for last 3 days since i got them like we do with other plants we have at home. i don't want to rot the root.. do i need to get the root to dry out a little before watering?

pete

I will not allow it to become bone dry which may cause stress to the plant but barely moist is OK to water again. This allows the oxygen to get to the roots between the watering cycle. You have to give allowance to the weather (hot/cold, dry/humid) as well as the the amount of leaves available for transpiration.

ottawan's advice is perfect, just fallow it and your tree should be fine

good luck
