Noted that fig tree requires more direct sun does not matter if potted or in ground, but in between fig leaves are easy to get sun burnt, so how to avoid this issue especially if planted in container ?

My trees sit in full sun, even the one year old and rarely have burned fig leaves and if any it is usually a minor issue. Late in summer as the leaves get old, you might see a decline in the freshness of some of the leaves. If you water your tree and allow water to hit the leaves during a sunny day then they will get burned.

I have my cuttings sprouting outside under a small awning with old screen material in the sides...on the side that gets the most sun I doubbled up on that....a shade house or shade cloth would work as well.
For mature trees you should not have such troubles at all.

Shade cloth is great in the summer for young trees.

Fig trees are quite smart, Although its old leaves got sun burnt, New leaves will be stronger, thicker and smaller to handle stronger sun, I have more problem with smaller black pot with sand base soils, I find that it got really hot under sun and it killed roots and weakening fig tree growing.

Thanks for the responds. I found most sunburnt issues mainly happened for fig tree potted but not in ground. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Issues like sun burn only happens to my potted trees when I have not got them acclimatise to prevalent existing conditions. None of my trees suffered any sun burn this season.
