How to maximize the growth of limbs?

Let’s say I am not interested in the fruits produced by a fig tree and I want to maximize its growth. This could sound crazy since after all we are growing figs to eat the fruit…

But here are the two possible reasons,

Firstly, this could be a good idea to speed the maturity of the tree and enable it to build a stronger structure that could potentially enable it to bear even more fruits in the future.

Secondly, it would to maximize the growth of limbs for propagation purposes. In this case the concern would be to have the highest amount of cuttings possible for distribution. It should be added that year after the supply should remain stable.

If anyone has any feedback it would be most appreciated.

Montreal,
if growth is what you want this year i would say give it as much sun as possiible sun and fertilize as much as tree can take.
I use miracle grow at 1/4 to 1/2 strength weekly and constantly watering in the heat of summer so soil get a good flushing and roots i suppose get what they need.
But thats a normal routine for me so if you use MG you would be able to increase the strength easily especially if soil dries quickly or drains well weekly. Like i said i water every other day and fertilize week solution weekly.

Another option would be to always water your plant with fertilizer and watch it carefully for any ill effects if growth is all you want as i would not eat the fruit with such a regimen that year but it should grow well, just remember what you have to do when season start to get near end.

Hope this gives you something to ponder

Supposedly very severe pruning foces a lot of new vegetative growth.

Thanks for responding

Looks like MG and me will become good friends for a while

Jon: this is a good point and I have seen this kind of result on one of my trees.

Another idea I had, is to remove all the fruits form the tree
