How to stop fig split. Is it dependent on fig variety?

Hie all today when i was checking my white Adriatic fig, i saw that the a fig had split open and was nice and soft to the touch so i picked it. and it was very  delicious. The fig was massive at around 105 grams about 30g heavier than the first one i picked last week. We had wet weather last week which caused an unripe white Genoa to split. The last wet weather was 2 days ago. This one split open last night and had some cracks. Did it split due to ripeness or due to response to the wet weather a few days ago?  would putting a waterproof bag over the fruit prevent splitting?
Kind regards[qKyrAww]

Round and flat figs are much prone to split than elongated ones, nay i never see splitting on elongated figs.
This happens even more if the size of the fig is big.
What causes this is rain and humidity, even just the dew, or overpollination.

Some varieites are just more prone to splitting than others. However, something in weather (other than rain) is a factor, also. I don't have summer rain, but splitting still happen some years. I like to think that I am pretty consistent on watering, so I don't think that is a factor. Perhaps something in the weather causes the skin to lose elasticity so tat is splits when it swells up as part of the ripening process.

Could it be extreme low humidity which causes the skin to lose elasticity? Much like with us common humans?

Speed of growth/development?  If the figs are growing really fast there seems to be more splitting, flowers out pacing elasticity/growth of skin.

Try adding a huge amount of wood chips about 5-10 feet in diameter around the base of the tree for mulch.  I'm no expert I just know that heavy mulch helps with splitting fruits.
