How to wean figs

I have made a life style decision!  I have had 18 months of retirement, that is about 15 months too much.  I am returning to work.  The problem is how to handle the 200 (mol) trees that I have in pots and the 100 (mol) cuttings I have rooting.  I know that the majority of fig hobbyist balance job and hobby so I guess it will work out.  The problem is that I really don't understand the concept of "moderation" or "compromise"  when it comes to "things" that I do, it's "all in" or nothing.

Oh well, it will work out, I will not give up the trees!!!  They will have to learn to get along without me during the day.

When it gets hot, I water all my pots after dark when it all cools down. I think the soil absorbs more water that way. Granted all my trees are in pots which are sizeable enough that watering once a day is sufficient.
As far as your army of cuttings goes, I don't know. That's way more cuttings than I would ever want to have to obsess over.

Drip irrigation for the pots.  You can rotate checking your cuttings so they all get checked 2x/wk.  Hope you find a job you love.

Course you could always retire again.  ; )

I have made a deal for three years, really doing what I like, new business development.

Danny;

Good luck with your new endeavors and the new direction that your life has taken.  Figs evolved without us interfering, and I'm sure you will find the perfect balance between work and play.  If overwhelmed, divest, until you can manage a more comfortable sized collection.  Give some away to foster homes.....

Best of luck.

Frank
